Longball To No-One - The Little Boy Picked Up A Rock...
Snuffy Smile
posted March 5th 2005
Damn I've been putting this review off forever! But that's what happens when I get hung up on a band. I hardly listen to anything else! Anyway...on to this excellent cd. Longball To No-One sports an all star lineup so you know it's good. There's Bun from the Lovemen, Kawa from International Jet Set, Graeme from Broccoli, and I don't know anything about the second guitarist. He left the band not too long after recording this. Bun's lyrics range from girl songs to political rants. A little hard to follow at times with the Japanese translations but you get the gist of it. And the music! These "old timers" have the mix of hardcore and pop down to an art. They can learn the kids a thing or two. I even think they're better than I Excuse. It's hard to single out my favorite tracks with the whole album being so consistantly good. It sounds like the amps are cranked up to 11 already with the first track, Hang Over. The follow up Word could pop your speakers too. Damn they have a great bassist! Answer Your Own Question is another fave. So are At The Present Time and Graffiti. Longball To No-One is still surprisingly obscure. They need to get over here to the States already and release another album! You can find lots of distros that carry this on my j-punk page. I don't think you will be disappointed.
