The Urchin - Fragile Songs In Lukewarm Dreams
Snuffy Smile

The Urchin are one of my favorite Japanese bands. The play a really catchy pop punk that I can't help but love. Fragile Songs In Lukewarm Dreams was their first full length release. It came out in 1999 but it's surprisingly still in print (these things usually get rare real quick!). I guess that's a testament to how popular they are. There is one bad thing about this cd. The vocals are entirely too far down in the mix. It sounds like Masa is on the other side of the room! After reading the lyrics you'll discover that they're mostly political type songs. It's tough to pick out some favorites since the whole album is so good. Another Three Cheers To The Japanese Capitalistic Regulation Troops, Dead Fascist Lives In Our Weak Brain, Quitting A Job Thee Times In A Year To Drink From 4pm...man they love long song titles!! Most of the in print Urchin releases aren't that hard to find either. They've even been re-released here in the States with better packaging. Probably due to the fact that they've toured here before. But that was long before I had ever heard of them... Go find something by The Urchin. It's all very good!
